‘Driver’s License’ is a dive bar’s jam in this too-real ‘SNL’ sketch

Olivia Rodrigo’s plaintive, emotional “Driver’s License” might not seem like the kind of song to get a pool hall of grizzled New Yorkers singing together, but those kinds of assumptions are exactly what the “Driver’s License” sketch on Saturday Night Live is here to disprove. 

It takes less then a minute for the Disney star’s beautiful voice and relatable interpersonal drama to get through to the men in the hall, all of whom have a suspiciously deep knowledge of Sabrina Carpenter, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and the first person lyrical development of female pop trends of the last 15 years.
